Dr. H.E. McDaniel
Dr. H.E. McDaniel was an extraordinary dentist and an equally extraordinary individual. He was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Shelby County. He was the son of a preacher and a homemaker.
He and his spouse currently reside at Alamo Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Alamo, Tenn. He has three lovely daughters.
Upon completion of high school, Dr. McDaniel enlisted in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was a jet fighter pilot during World War II and was instructed by John Glenn, who would later gain fame as an astronaut and U.S. senator. He also knew Congressman Fats Everette.
Dr. McDaniel attended the University of Tennessee and became a dentist. He served his patients dilligently for 50 years. His social affiliations included the West Tennessee Senior Golfers, the American Dental Association, the Rotary Club and Masons.
Dr. Daniel Organized the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Crockett County as well as the first Golf Club. He was instrumental in starting the first football team at Alamo High School. He was a recipient of the Highest Honor Achievement Award granted by the West Tennesse Dental Association.
Dr. McDaniel continues to enhance the smiles on faces long after his retirement as a dentist, due in part to his kind, humble spirit and personable influence on all who surround him.
